FOCUS Wales 2019 : Artist Applications Open

Performer applications for FOCUS Wales 2019 are now open to artists worldwide via www.focuswales.com.

After the success of FOCUS Wales 2018, all signs are pointing towards another brilliant festival in 2019. With the new dates announced (16th – 18th May 2019), FOCUS Wales have opened applications for artists from Wales and around the world to showcase at the 2019 event.

245 acts performed at the 2018 festival, with artists traveling from across the globe from nations including Canada, Australia, Korea, South Africa, France, Catalonia, Taiwan and more. The first 50 acts for 2019 will be selected this September, so artists hoping to showcase at the festival are encouraged to submit their applications early. The festival received over 3,000 applications for our 2018 edition, and programmed over 300 showcase performances.

Festival Co-Founder Andy Jones explained the reason for the demand, "We're pleased to be opening up our artist applications for FOCUS Wales 2019, which will be our 9th edition of the festival. Our applications are open to artists worldwide, and to artists of all genres. We ultimately want to see the best new artists from across the globe showcasing here once again, and, crucially, that the artists are getting deals done at the event. It's what it's all about.”

The number of industry reps in attendance grew significantly in 2018, including 150 delegates from festivals, agencies, and media outlets such as Glastonbury Festival, SXSW, Cambridge Folk Festival, BBC 6Music, Sounds Australia, POP Montreal + many more. With an expanded conference programme planned for 2019, the number of delegates will inevitably rise again. FOCUS Wales will be making conference speaker and programme announcements in the autumn.

FOCUS Wales 2019 takes places 16th, 17th, 18th May across various venues in Wrexham, North Wales.
