Studio Electrophonique : Jayne

There is the memory of a sweet(er) Jane (maybe as refracted by The Cowboy Junkies) in this single from Studio Electrophonique.

Jayne is a beautifully melancholic sketch of character and longing with just guitar and voice by Sheffield-based James Leesley, who uses 'Studio Electrophonique' as his solo recording name.

Any Velvet Underground comparison is not trivial, nor hauntological. The new song's one-take emotive simplicity and intelligent lyric has the hallmark Lou Reed's beneficial influence, but is something brilliant in itself.

The release sets up what should be a very special debut 10" vinyl album, Buxton Palace Hotel - due this September on Violette Records.

Live dates will follow in Sheffield, Liverpool, London and Paris in Autumn 2019.
